So many girls want to be Hannah Montana for Halloween this year. There are some great store bought costumes available, but your daughter wants to be unique. She wants something that makes her special. So what can you do?

Face it, we mothers are busy - between taking care of our families, cooking, cleaning, our jobs, volunteering at school, car-pooling - well, WHEW . I am exhausted just thinking about it. Who has the time to make an outfit from scratch. My suggestion is to buy one of the terrific selections of Hannah Montana Halloween costumes that are available, and then customize the costume by becoming your own stylist.

You can become the stylist and really “make” the outfit by concentrating on the hair, makeup and accessories. Have you ever watched Project Runway? While the designers were focusing on designing an amazing dress, they also needed to give their attention to hair and makeup. It was the entire ensemble and how well all the accessories complemented the outfit that had a big influence on the final judging. So let’s look at all the elements of becoming the best Hannah Montana for Halloween.

First, some of the costumes come with wigs and some don’t. Be sure you read the details so you know exactly what comes with any purchased costume. If your daughter has long blonde hair, well you are all set. Wear it straight with bangs and you have the Hannah Montana rock star hair. Hannah has long hair. If your daughter has long hair but it is not blonde, you could use one of the spray temporary hair colors that are available around Halloween. Personally, I would be afraid that my daughter would end up looking like a clown with yellow hair instead of luscious long blonde hair. So, If your daughter does not have naturally long blonde hair, I suggest springing for a wig. Look for a wig with long, straight blonde hair and straight bangs.

Pay special attention to the accessories since they really make the outfit. An oversized, sparkly metallic belt is a great place to start. It adds an immediate rock star shine to the Hannah Montana Halloween outfit. Look for a belt that will coordinate with her school or dress clothes so you get plenty of use from it after Halloween. You can also decorate a belt that is already in her closet by combining a variety of sequins with other sparkly decorations. Add some lip gloss and you are done.
