Charging For A Teleseminar - Can It Be Done?

Do you have business questions that are stopping you from really progressing within your market? I know as my business grew I came across road blocks, big and small, that sometimes would put me behind schedule or just stump me. In this article I will answer one of those questions on teleseminars.

Here is the question:

Can you charge for a teleseminar, or is it better give it away free then try and sell your products while on the call?

I like to do both - charge and do free calls. I’m going to give you a few things to think about here.

With the free call, you are going to get more people but they are less qualified. This means if you are looking to sell a product or service, they are not as good of a prospect as somebody who has paid for that particular call.

You can take a variety of stances on this situation. One method that I like doing is holding a free call, but giving people the opportunity to purchase the mp3 and transcripts right away as an up sell. The transcripts and mp3s aren’t given away because by selling them I am establishing a sense of value on those products. Often times I will put together a registration offer, something that will grab their attention right after they have registered. It may say something to the effect of, “Congratulations on your registration. Since you have just registered, there is a special offer available to you which includes getting the mp3 and transcripts for $10, would you like to take advantage of that?”

This is my up sell process. I provide them the mp3 and transcripts for $10, and then I let them know that after the call is finished, it will be sold for $47 or whatever price you are going to sell it for. So in that way, it is a great deal for them right out of the gate. They are going to save a whack of money by buying it now, but at the same time, it allows me to build a sub list of more qualified people.

At the same time, I am able to hit both markets. By providing the content for free, those people are able to receive the valuable information by joining me on the call. The only problem for them is it may be inconvenient because they have to be on the phone at that time in order to listen to the content.

The people who actually purchase something are actually helping me build a sub list of qualified people. These people are willing to go into their wallet and take out their credit card and invest in learning materials, it doesn’t matter that it was only $10. I don’t want it to be a huge hurdle to get over, that is why I keep the price fairly low. The main purpose is to capture those people who are willing to purchase materials and also establish value for the mp3 and transcripts. By doing this people will now know that they are something of value and will be willing to purchase them again in the future because they know they won’t be free.

Giving everything away for free is not something I like to do because your whole back end sales won’t be helped by doing that. Qualifying people and establishing value is another goal of mine and this method as worked well for me to do both. By providing the actual call for free you will still get those people who are looking for freebies and be able to show them how much valuable your information can be. You also will be able to secure those qualified people who purchase the mp3 and transcripts during the up sell process. Offer them a deal at the time of registration for a much lower price, like $10. Also make sure you let them know that after the call that price will be increase dramatically to $47, $97, whatever price you decide upon.

Then at the same time you have also created a sub list of more qualified prospects. You could probably follow up with that sub list a lot harder than you could with your freebie seekers because they have expressed more of an interest based on the fact that they have proven that they will pull out their wallet.

You can charge for teleseminars as well as give them away for free. Both with leave you with different options, depending on what you are trying to sell and accomplish through your call.

How Much Lead Time You Should Give Yourself Developing Products

We’ve all had those questions in our business that either stop our train of thought or slow our level of productivity down. Ranging from product creation, affiliate marketing, teleseminars, financial matters, I know in my own business I’ve come upon hundreds of business questions that I wish I could know the answer to. So, in this article I am going to answer two questions I’ve had about product creation.

First question:

If I am going to be doing a product launch that involves monthly send outs and teleseminar, how much lead time should I allow and how much of the product should I have finished before it is launched?

When creating a product and knowing how much lead time you will need, always give yourself as much time as possible. Usually, one way or another, it will take longer than you expected.

Here is an example, if you are creating a 12 month course, try and give yourself a three to four month buffer. As the course goes along always try to keep that buffer there and that will keep you in a safe zone.

When it comes to product development that is just the reality that I have encountered, sometimes it just takes longer than you expect. The dream is to be able to get the product created really quickly but there are hiccups with packaging, delivery.

Expect it to take you longer, so give yourself a buffer zone, which will allow you to get it developed as quickly as possible. Keeping that buffer zone should be your focus so you’ll be able to get your product completed and stay ahead.

Here is second question:

If I’m an expert on a topic, what would be a really quick way to create a product?

Firstly, you don’t have to be an expert to create a product quickly. Secondly, there are a number of ways to do this. Teleseminar series are a very easy and fast way to create products, especially if you sell the series as well. Recently, I have started several different courses and am doing them as a teleseminar series. Once I have completed each call I turn them into products. Basically, I have created brand new material in the teleseminars, as soon as they were finished I had them transcribed, built a course from that, and now have multiple products.

This is definitely something you can do and a method that I would suggest to make things easier is to map out what content you want to teach about and put it in a modular format. This model makes it easy to create content. Once you have a major topic for a particular module you can then dive deep into all the individual strategies that fit under that category. You can really crank out a lot of valuable information pretty quickly this way and by using the call itself to create the content you don’t have to have it ahead of time.

MOR Vacations Personal Branding Explained

Many have become confused about what Personal Branding is. Most have a mythical idea that it’s about putting video on your website, but that’s the BS. It’s much more than that.

In February, 2007 I coached one of MOR Vacations prominent affiliates who wanted to know how I was winning all the sales awards and staying on the top sales list. As much as I’d wanted to share everything I know with him, I could only share that it was about personal branding and that video was the best option to develop that brand. He was just missing one key thing, years of equity required to develop that brand.

Top personal brands are everywhere. Real Estate, TV, Basketball, and even communications. Who instantly comes to mind when you think of these subjects? Trump, Oprah, Jordan, and Regan, right? How does it happen? Years of personal branding building.

If all this wasn’t possible, you wouldn’t be able to “Trump” the competition and Donald Trump wouldn’t be called “the Trumpster”. Years of brand building has gone into making Donald Trump the king of Real Estate Quality. He started with building blocks in his father Fred Trump’s office (also in Real Estate).

Everyone starts somewhere. The first project that allowed Trump to begin the process was turning a Manhattan hotel into a shiny gem. This allowed him to develop a reputation, which today allows him to develop real estate all over the world. It’s taken years, but it does pay off.

Personal branding is about developing a reputation. It’s about building a track record. It’s about being the first name that comes to mind when thinking about a topic. I’ve been doing personal branding since 2002. People often tell me “Your Everywhere!” This has become a part of my personal brand.

As you learn more about personal branding and how M.O.R. vacations affiliates should be using it, you begin to see that most don’t even understand it. You want to be UNIQUE, yet when you look at the websites of Members Only Resort Vacations affiliates, you see that many look almost exactly alike.

I do marketing coaching, that’s part of my brand. So, I spend 80% of my coaching time teaching my team members to market their global resorts business. Building a personal brand requires consistency, uniqueness, understandability, must be focused and must fill a need the market has.

Many have fallen for the Personal Branding, YouTube, and Google Adwords marketing plan. It’s a shame as they are not trying to make a profit from their MOR Vacations business. They have become Just another MOR Vacations affiliate.
