It is common knowledge that what causes acne is that the skin’s pores get blocked with body oils and/or dead skin. But, you have been told a lot of things about acne causes that are not true.

To begin with that means that eating greasy foods like pizza, bacon, French fries or potatoes chips will not affect your acne either way. Neither will eating chocolate or drinking any kind of carbonated soda pop. Wearing make-up is also not likely going to affect your skin, especially if the make-up is the oil-free.

Ask your parents about their skin as a teenager. If they had problems, you will probably have the same. But, it should go away by the time you reach your twenties. Here are a couple of suggestions to help with your acne problem. Don’t use a facecloth as it may be too rough on your skin. Your hands are much more friendly to your face. Wash with warm water and a mild soap in the morning and before going to bed at night.

If you put anything on your face (to include make-up, moisturizer, and sunscreen) has to be oil free. It is very important to take off your makeup at night before bed. Any time you begin to sweat due to exertion, wash your face. It is best to keep your hair off of your face. This is because your hair has many oils that you do not want to be rubbed onto your face. Also, make sure to wash your hair on a regular basis to keep the oils from getting the oils on your face.

If you must use products like sprays or gel to keep your hair in place, make sure that you keep it off of your face. These items can contribute to your acne by blocking up your pores. And if you have to wear hats or caps, be careful that they do not promote acne along the hairline.

Another important thing to remember is not to touch your face excessively. Touching transfers the dirt and oils from your hands to your face. Equally important is to refrain from picking, touching, popping or squeezing the pimples which can cause them to get much worse.

You can find many different acne medications at your local drug store. There are many to choose from and you may find that what works for your best friend may do nothing for you. The best have benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid in them which help to dry out the skin and shrink the offending pimples. Make sure you follow the directions carefully. Do not overuse the products or you can damage your skin.

If, after trying some of these products, you have not received any relief, talk to your doctor. A dermatologist will be able to prescribe something that will probably work better.

Foods for Homemade Facial Skin Care

Many foods make great facial cleansers. Many foods have nutrients that are good for your skin. Nature has given us a wealth of skin care ingredients. The best skin care is natural skin care and what is more natural than food.

Oatmeal and honey make a great a natural facial skin care treatment. A natural skin care recipe using oatmeal and honey is to make a cup of oatmeal, just like you would for breakfast. While the oatmeal is thickening and cooling down, mix in 2 tablespoons of honey, you can also add 2 tablespoons of plain or strawberry yogurt and the juice squeezed from one lemon. Lemon contains natural astringents. This should form a good paste. Apply a layer to your face, avoiding the eyelids. If you get any in your eyes, rinse it out with warm water. After it dries wash it off with warm water, follow with cold water.

Try mixing different fruits into your oatmeal and use it as a mask. Be sure you use organic ingredients whenever possible and you are not allergic to it. Be sure the oatmeal has cooled down before you put it on your face. You can add any of the food listed above. Some other ideas are avocado oil, olive oil, any fruit yogurt and just about any essential oil. Always use essential oils in moderation and never

Green tea has detoxifying properties and it is loaded with antioxidants. Use the best tea you can find and steep it long enough to do some good, do not let it boil. I like a loose-leaf tea; they are stronger than tea bags. The green teas from Chinese herb shops often have the best selection. I discover a new green tea every time I go into one. You do not have to do a good job straining the brew, some leaf in the oatmeal is good. As with anything you are going to smear on your skin you want to start with a small amount, test a little to make sure you do not have a reaction to it. Reactions do not happen often but you still want to do this with everything.

Avocado is a fruit because it has a stone. Avocado is loaded with vitamins A, C, E, iron, potassium, niacin, lecithin, pantothenic acid and protein not usually found in a fruit. It also has heart healthy monounsaturated fat that will not increase your bad cholesterol. Avocado oil is classed as a vegetable oil. It makes a rich, deep penetrating oil. Just by itself it makes a great dry skin mask.

Homemade skin care does not get any simpler. Carefully cut your avocado in half and remove the pit with a spoon. Spoon the good parts out into a bowl. Your avocado can now be mashed using a fork, blender, potato masher, food processor or your hands. Mash it up and smear it on. Leave it on for about 20 minutes then rinse it off with water. Avocado perishes fast when exposed to the air. You can squeeze lemon juice over the remainder and keep in the refrigerator but avocado is best used while it is fresh. The best thing to do is smear the leftovers on your chest and arms. Let it dry then soak in the bath to wash it off. After you add the lemon juice it can be a bit tough on sensitive skin but it makes a great natural skin care astringent.

Watermelon juice makes one of the best skin care products ever. It cleans, re-hydrates and exfoliates skin, leaving it fresh and gorgeous. Crush up a slice of watermelon and apply it over your face, neck, arms and anywhere you like. Leave it on for 20 minutes or more. Rinse the juice off using warm water, splash your face and neck with cold water to close your pores. Your face will feel fresh and clean. The pulp has fiber that will scrub toxins out of your pours.

To close pores try rubbing your skin with cold watermelon juice with pulp. You can add a cup of mint tea for an uplifting mix. For oily skin, mix chickpea powder with the juice and pulp. The chickpea powder will make a watermelon paste that will soak up the oil in your skin. Let it dry then wash it off.

Another recipe for oily skin is to take half cup chickpea powder, one teaspoon of turmeric powder and half a cup of organic milk. Mix it up. Apply this paste all over the forehead, face and neck. Wait a few minutes and wash it off. The chickpea powder absorbs the oil and the milk nourishes your skin.

Aloe vera is thought to be one of the best natural skin care ingredients both for the insides and outsides. Smear it on your skin and drink it with juice. Aloe vera is a complex combination of some 300 ingredients including polysaccharides, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, lignins, saponins and anthraquinones. The inner gel has been used for ever to soothe skin, heal cuts, sooth sunburns and keep people regular. Aloe vera can be toxic in excess, over doing it can include diarrhea, hepatitis and kidney dysfunction. Follow the dosage on the bottle, just because a normal dose is good does not mean an over dose is better.

Natural skin care is an experiment, try new things and see what works for you.

A Few Common Misconceptions About Acne Skin Care

It’s interesting how many people still have so many common misconceptions about facial blemishes, and especially about something like acne skin care. Not only do these misconceptions fail to actually treat acne the way it should be treated, they may actually be doing quite a bit of damage to their skin and making it worse.

Saving grace is that treatment of acne is simple if you know the causal factors and the tried and tested treatment.

We now have a good understanding of the cause of acne. When irritants like dirt and oil settle into our pores, they become a breeding ground for bacteria, causing pimples to erupt. This dirt can come from airborne sources like pollution, or from dead skin cells. Our skin is there to protect the flesh underneath from these substances.

The prevention of acne therefore becomes extremely important for people working in polluted environments such as industries, thermal power plants, construction sites or people who drive about a lot on polluted city roads.

If you notice that your skin is very dirty at the day’s end, acne skin care will be very important. Try taking good care of your skin, and you’ll soon notice the difference.

The oil that gets into your pores is typically just the oil on your skin that is natural. We all have this, even though we often associate acne skin care with teenagers. It’s true that those who are teenaged typically have more oil on their skin just because their hormones are still a bit off balance, but even adults can have very oily skin that causes breakouts. For them, acne skin care is important as well.

Using harsh cleansers to strip your skin of these oils and clean out all that dirt is a common mistake that many make in what they think is good acne skin care. They typically think that because this dirt and these oils are causing their breakouts then they need to do everything possible to get rid of it.

However, you can overdo it. Using harsh produce can irritate the surface of the skin. This is actually poor acne skin care - irritated skin will produce more oil to help soothe the damage. That oil clogs our pores, and dirt particles become attached to it, creating a worse problem.

Not all acne conditions can be attributed to dirt and oil. Some of them result out of harsh skin care products like hair dyes and cosmetics. It is; therefore, better to use mild natural products as far as possible for proper skin care.

Even using a new product can cause some people’s skin to break out. To avoid this problem, look for gentle acne skin care products for both cleansing and moisturizing.

People suffering from acne will try anything under the sun to treat the problem. The anything here is usually the advertised and over the counter treatments available easily in the market and on the Internet. They will keep changing the brand names of the over the counter available products and do not get easily disappointed by their little or no effect. It is indeed very surprising to see the amount of money people spend mindlessly on these treatments, which do not have any results.

Having seen the over the counter commonly available treatments, people are readily looking for other options for herbal acne treatment. This is after they have tried and actively tested other products. Also these individuals do not want to consult a dermatologist (skin specialist) due to the fear of strong medications being prescribed. People are also looking for products that are natural and have lesser side effects. They find herbal acne treatments giving them what they are looking for.

Knowing the product

Like any other treatment you are planning to undergo, you need to be informed regarding the product or treatment. That is whether it is administered orally or is supposed to be applied on the skin you should be aware of the product, its constituents and also the possible reactions.

Natural products, which are used in herbal acne treatment, may also cause allergy in some people, therefore, it is suggested that the family doctor be consulted before opting for any such treatment. In case of any unpleasant experience with the particular product, the family doctor will have the information on the product and result in a prompt action.

Being aware of all types of herbal acne treatment available in the market is very important before starting any kind of treatment. As the variety is more, there may be some product, which is suited for just your particular skin type, another important point here is like medications and ointments, herbal products also differ in performance in different people. Therefore you may have to try a few before you get the right one. Also know the constituents of those products that did not suit you. This will point you towards choosing the next one and eventually reach a right decision.

How to Remove Blackheads Without Using Harmful Skincare Products

As a teenager, I’ve went through some tough times with my acne. So I ended up doing a bunch of research to find out the best ways to deal with acne and get rid of blackheads. Here are 5 of the top blackhead removal techniques that I’ve used over the years:

Washing Your Face

This may sound like simple advice, but people just don’t do it when they should. I remember during high school, girls didn’t wash their face after P.E. class. It really didn’t matter if we were all sweaty after a workout or even after running a mile. Since we had only several minutes to get ready before our next class, we all rushed just to get ready and make out hair look pretty.

My rule is to wash your face in the morning, in the evening, and when you really should do it. That includes washing your face after exercising. Pick up a skin cleanser from your local department store that is especially made for morning and night time cleansing. Some cleansers are so strong that you don’t want to use them so often. In fact, some can actually dry out your skin and make it harder to remove the blackheads. Make this a habit and you’ll get rid of blackheads and prevent them from showing up again.

Using Olive Oil

Some people say that you shouldn’t use anything oily on your skin. The truth is that your skin produces oil when your body thinks that your skin needs it. What you want to do is take care of your skin and wash it on a daily basis or when needed.

Olive oil works as a natural moisturizer. By massaging it on your face, you’ll naturally rub it away. Since the olive oil works as a lubricant, you can massage your skin vigorously without causing any harm to your skin.

Using Biore

Have you heard of Biore before? Most people use it to remove old pockets of oil from their face. It’s a white piece of paper that is made to be slightly adhesive when combined with a little water.

To use it to remove blackheads, you use it in a similar manner. The main thing is to soften the blackhead with warm water. You can use a warm towel and apply it to the area. Then after a minute or two, apply the Biore strip. Make sure that you put a little pressure on top of the blackhead. Then after 10-15 minutes, pull the strip. This will help pull the blackhead away from the skin.

Using a Facial Scrub

The facial scrub helps break away old skin and remove blackheads. In order to use this method effectively, you’ll want to use warm water and a dab of the facial scrub cream. Then massage the area where the blackhead is located and rinse. You can repeat this method a few times to see if it will work for you.

Using a Blackhead Removal Tool

You can find this tool in many department stores for around $15. Before using this, make sure that it is clean. Then use a warm towel or warm steam to open up the pores. Then use the tool to remove your blackhead. Make sure that you follow the instructions that are provided.

How To Get Rid of Zits Fast

Nobody likes to talk about their acne problem. Most problems are not something you want to bring up anyway, let alone a problem about acne. As I’m sure, the topic on your mind is of beauty, and a clear face.

So what are you to do? If you are in a hurry, you can try a program called Acne Free In 3 Days and see what it does for you. To really get rid of zits though you will need to change your actions, such as diet and stress levels.

To tackle your problem you are going to have to defeat the root of acne. Acne is partly hereditary and there is nothing you can do about that. You can however, change your diet and your stress levels.

Never listen to someone who tells you that acne has nothing to do with your diet. It has been proven the two are related. The more crap you eat the more acne you will have. Help your cause by giving your skin the nutrients it needs to combat acne problems and to flush out the system. Take in plenty of vitamins and antioxidants.

To eat well does not mean you have to starve yourself and only eat like a health nut. All you have to do is replace the junk food with similar tasting, natural food. Try it out for a few weeks and see how your face clears up.

Japan as a nation was basically acne free until the mid 1940s. The primary reason for this was their diet. They took in a lot of omega acids, fibers, and seafood. These nutrients kept their skin moist and smooth.
