A body detox diet or cleanse is becoming more widely practiced, especially by people who reach the limits of what the medical profession can do for them.

Having learned about the self-healing power of the body, getting out of the way and allowing it to cleanse becomes a priority.

Is there a recommended time frame to do a body detox diet?

Ignore any cleansing information that suggests anything less than 3 weeks. You want to allow for a complete cleansing cycle, and begin to form positive new habits.

Use these 5 crucial steps to create the health you want:

1 — Drink half your weight in water every day. Did you know that most people are dehydrated? Sodas and other drinks containing sugar or caffeine won’t do it, you need filtered water.

2 — Think of the color green. Green vegetables not only nourish your body, they also are almost always alkaline rather than acid. Eat mostly alkaline foods during your body detox diet rather than acid forming ones.

3 — The body reacts to cooked food the same way it does to a virus, by raising the number of white blood cells. Raw foods or vegetables in their natural state is the way to go so you can help with the body detox diet.

4 — Try drinking only fresh made juices from green vegetables once a week during your cleanse. This is much more doable than long juice fasting and just as effective.

5 — While the detox diet is vital, so is movement. Your muscles will atrophy without movement and it will be very difficult to eliminate the toxins. From resistance training to a simple fast walk, your body comes alive when you move.

When you are cleansing, your body will be eliminating toxins that have been stored, sometimes for years. Think of all the ways you eliminate.

The body eliminates through all the exits it can find, including the all the skin and the nose. When we define a runny nose as being “sick”, we try hard to stop it and in fact hamper the body from completing the process

Make it easy for yourself through the body detox diet. The more you help by moving and sweating, and drinking lots of water, the more comfortable you will feel throughout the process. And the quicker you will start to feel wonderful.
